CRITICAL PIZZA

Facilitator: Owen G Parry
Type: Online
Sessions: 2 Days, 7 hours, March
2021, Queer Now

Dali’s Paranoiac Critical Pizza is an international business meeting for a cabal of antifascist art witches, queer automationists, eco-conspirators and you! Let’s conspire to “breath together” for the first time at a secret and highly convenient utopia [on zoom]. We will explore how art’s potential to construct new logics, combined with its fashionable appropriation by the powers of commerce, puts art in a good position to influence and queer reality against all totalising narratives. Get your best tin foil hat on!

SONIC SPECTRAL SUMMONING

Facilitator: Johanna Linsley
Type: Correspondence
Sessions: March, over 3 weeks
2021, Queer Now

This module is aimed at equipping participants with the tools necessary to identify, isolate and summon your own ghostly spectre from the acoustic atmosphere of your choice. Every ring tone, white noise machine, laptop fan or refrigerator buzz has the potential to contain a latent haunting. Every inside joke, gossip circuit and open secret might, if you listen the right way, have the capacity to raise the dead. Do you have what it takes to break open the world as you currently know it?

queer big brother in ur bedroom but dance

Facilitator: illyr
Type: Online & Correspondence
Sessions: 3, starting 6 March
2021, Queer Now

This module explores the connection queerness can enable through shared movement practice.

It takes the form of a facilitated exploration between all participants of identity and movement. We will ask: what is (your) queerness? How do you move (queerly)? and permutations of these questions as they leak into auto-choregraphic potential.

INTRO TO CLUB CULTURAL STUDIES: QUEER CONTEXTS

Facilitator: Justin Hunt
Type: Online & Correspondence
Sessions: Two options

April Session (4x Sunday afternoons) - Full

June Session (4x Sunday evenings) - Open
2021, Queer Now

This module introduces Club and Nightlife Studies in its academic context. Taking queerness and isolation as a binocular lens, we will consider the dual economy of club cultures; the affective economy of queer nightlife communities and the cash economy at labor in our parties. This is a seminar style module where participants are facilitated in their inquiry into common shared texts and their lived experience.

This course initially ran in April 2021 and June 2021.

An updated version ran in November 2023.
